Learn about Rhode Island Artist Jean Monti
Jean Monti believes that every painting she completes becomes a family heirloom of a very precious time in the lives of her clients. She travels nationally to families’ homes to photograph reference images and then uses the reference photography to paint from. Her style, including her exquisite use of light, was developed while earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design where she studied illustration, painting, and photography.
Upon graduating from Rhode Island School of Design she began a successful freelance career, illustrating more than 70 romance novel book covers. Along with working with major publishers, Jean worked with top advertising agencies, modeling agencies, and photography studios in New York City. After becoming a mother, Jean put her career as a commercial artist behind, and embarked on a successful career as a fine artist. The joys of childhood and family are her everyday life and became her passion and subject matter as well. Jean set out to photograph and paint women and children in splendid scenes with sensitivity, seeking to carefully capture the emotional response and connection. “Memories of the Heart.” As an internationally recognized and award winning artist it is important for Jean to “touch viewers in a way that makes them remember beautiful, special moments. Jean Monti’s work is an extension of herself and a legacy for families to treasure. Creating unique paintings out of life’s most precious and meaningful moments is a gift that she treasures and never takes for granted. Jean is a proud member of The Portrait Society of America. She is represented in the Southeast for her portrait paintings by Portraits Inc. and Portraits South.
